Raid on suspected militant hideout in Toba Tek Singh killed five


TOBA TEK SINGH: In a joint raid conducted by police and security forces in Pirmahal area of Toba Tek Singh district in Punjab on Thursday at least five people including three children and a woman were killed, informed by district police officer of the district.


According to the police, the suspected militant hideout in Housing Colony area of Pirmahal was raided, which triggered a shootout killing five people.

Three Elite Police Force members also wounded during hour-long encounter when grenades thrown by the suspects. One of the three wounded is in critical situation.


Earlier, a large body of security men and police commandos raided and cordoned off the area. Police also claimed having arrested one suspected terrorist in a wounded condition, while another one reportedly blew himself up avoiding detention.

The blast, erupted when he detonated his suicide vest, also took the lives of his wife and three children, while one other child sustained multiple injuries and in a critical condition.

Police sources also claimed that detained suspect is a key commander from the banned faction Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Meanwhile, the victims were transported to the Toba DHQ Hospital and district is put under heavy security soon after the incident.
