Imran Khan was addressing a press conference in Lahore where he made the said claims.
“Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Superintendent of Police (SP) Umar Virk is involved in campaigning against PTI, and is performing these services for the incumbent government in Punjab,” Imran Khan alleged.
He further claimed that Umar Virk has also hands in intimidating his party workers, and is stimulating vicious elements to threaten his workers to stop them from carrying out their party duties for upcoming by-polls in Lahore.
“The government of Punjab under PML-N is using the provincial police as its enforcers and thugs, and are using them to influence the upcoming by-polls in the province,” said Imran.
The PTI chairman said that his party would contact the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the Inspector-General (IG) of Punjab police to launch legal proceedings against those who involved in threatening and harassing his party workers.
Meanwhile, Punjab election commission’s tribunal had directed last month to hold re-polling in National Assembly constituency NA-122, after the declaring elections in this constituency null and void in the aftermath of proven irregularities in Ayaz Sadiq’s constituency.
