ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif accepted Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan’s resignation on Monday.
According to BBC Urdu Service, Mushahid Ullah Khan said during an interview that there existed a tape featuring alleged role of former spy chief in the last year’s sit-ins led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek.
The minister had been sought an explanation after his tendering resignation one day after his statement concerning the tape. The explanation sought by PM states: “The existence of any such tape was neither in the knowledge of the Prime Minister, nor it was presented to anyone.”
However, unflustered after losing ministry, the stepped down minister clarified on Sunday saying that there was nothing new in his collocation with the BBC, and claimed that media overplay his statement.
As stated by media, the PML-N leader today called on the PM to explain his stance concerning the interview, after that PM Nawaz accepted his resignation.
Mushahid Ullah Khan belongs to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and has been a member of Standing Committee on Science and Technology, the Standing Committee on Ports and Shipping, and the Standing Committee on Labour and Manpower.
