KHANEWAL/MULTAN: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will inaugurate the 45 Km Khanewal-Multan motorway section of M4. Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif will be also attend the inauguration ceremony.
The foundation of M4 motorway was laid by Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani in August 2009. The Khanewal-Multan section has been completed at a cost of Rs. 13 billion. This section will reduce the burden of traffic. It is the part of M4 Motorway Karachi-Lahore and will act as bypass for Multan. It will also assist the traffic coming from Baluchistan.
M-4 will ease traffic on N-5 & reduce distance between Khanewal -Pindi Bhattian by about 150 km. It willresult in huge savings in vehicleoperating costs besides reduction intime and enhancing efficiency. It willfurther open new avenues for economicdevelopment and provide better accessto modern education, health and otherfacilities.
The M4 have four sections; Faisalabad-Gojra (58 km), Gojra-Shorkot (62 km), Shorkot-Din Pur-Khanewal (64 km), and Khanewal-Multan (45 km). The construction of two large bridges over River Ravi and Sadhnai Canal are also the part of this mega project.
After successful completion, M4 will link the southern areas of Punjab with the already established networks of motorways in northern areas of the Punjab. it will also extend the M1, M2, and M3 southward and reduce the distance between Multan and twin cities Islamabad-Rawalpindi.
