RAWALPINDI: The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) of Pak Army has ensured that the troops will assist law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in maintaining peace during LG polls when and where required by the civil administration.
Various civil administrations have demanded for the army troops for maintenance of law and order only during upcoming local body elections in sensitive districts of Punjab and Sindh. However, ISPR has clearly mentioned that the conduct of elections will remains the responsibility of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Meanwhile, first phase of the LF polls in the two provinces – Punjab and Sindh – will be start from tomorrow. Election materials (ballot boxes and papers) have been already transported to the concerned regions. Tomorrow the poll will be held in the 12 districts of Punjab and 8 districts of Sindh.
