ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry of Pakistan has announced to thwart the movement just led by Lal Masjid’s cleric Abdul Aziz.
Great number of contingent of Rangers and police officials have been deployed by the ministry in the vicinity of the mosque on Friday. The ministry maintains that the cleric is engaged in using the government-run mosque for political activities.
Meanwhile, the reports say that the cleric has called off the movement soon after interior ministry’s move to deploy security in the federal capital.
Earlier, the cleric of Lal Masjid announced to launch a movement to get implemented the system based on the Holy Quran and Sunnah in the country. Abdul Aziz announced to launch the movement on Friday after the Jummah prayer and persuaded his students to take participation for the cause.
The famous Lal Masjid had come under fire and a serious operation was launched in 2007 by the then president General Pervez Musharraf in order to wipe out Taliban, which allegedly were hiding inside the mosque. The operation was ended in a bloody one week long siege leaving at least 50 Pakistani troops and seminary students.
The cleric of Lal Masjid has repeatedly demanded from the federal government to inflict Islamic System of Government in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. And his fresh movement is a part of his demand.
