Gas absence hassles citizens, minister says shortage to continue till January

Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has informed that shortage of natural gas will continue till next month in Punjab and KhyberPakhtunkhwa.

Justifying the prolong shortage of gas, the minister said that this year’s crisis regarding gas is worse than the last one and both the companies – Sui Northern Gas Pipeline and Sui Southern Gas Company – were unable to fulfil the demands. He said that the real issue is in Punjab and KP where compressors’ usage sucks most of the supply.

Meanwhile, the shortage and absence of natural gas has been an irksome issue for the citizens especially in Punjab and KP. Many cities of both the province have been facing the issue and many instances of protests have been seen across these provinces.

The absence of gas starts with the arrival of winter season and begins to tease the citizens as they get unable to lit their stoves to prepared food. It has become a usual routine that gas gets vanished from many, even major parts of the cities, soon after 8 at night and gets restored by the dawn merely for couple of hours and is not found afterwards as well.

Due to such a routine of gas cut cause hurdles to carry out the routine for many citizens.
