LAHORE: A Lahore Session Court has issued on Friday a non-bailable arrest warrant for Meera.
Judicial Magistrate Wajid Minhas has directed that film-star Meera be detained and presented before court on September 17 in an ongoing case that her alleged former husband Atiqur Rehman filed against her.
In the case, Atiq alleged that Meera married Captain Naveed without divorcing from him (Atiq).
She was summoned for number of court hearings that she did not attend; subsequently, the court has issued the non-bailable arrest warrants.
Soon after the reports of a squabble between Atiq and Meera emerged, she strongly refuted being married to him. Atiq alleged that Meera had jeopardized to have him killed, and had pilfered furniture from a house that he had given her as a gift. Responding to this allegation, Meera had also sought to file a case against Atiq over threatening and attempting to kill her.
Previously, a session court last year had ordered the FIA to file a case against Meera and Captain Naveed. A petition was submitted claiming that a controversial video featuring the couple which had got viral on social media had brought disrepute to the public.
On the other hand, the film-star had refuted the videos genuineness calling it an attempt to disrepute her reputation and credibility.
