Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) Multan was closed on Thursday amid security threats. According to the sources, biggest university of South Punjab was shut by the university administration after Pakistan Army observed the security situation of the university today.
Although, this is not the very first time when BZU is being shut due to security threats, the move is previously in practice after APS Attack and Bacha Khan University Attack.
And as previous commands by university administration, students were asked to leave the university premises as soon as possible.
On the other hand, students are seen complaining that it is the second time when these sudden holidays are colliding with their exams. According to the sources, the exams of different under-graduate programs were to be held by the university but due to the security reasons all the exams are also postponed.
The official notification issued by the BZU administration majorly reads that ‘All the teaching Departmnets/Centres/Institutes/Sub Campuses and Constitute Colleges of the Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan will remain closed from 27th May, 2016 to till further order on account of Summer Vacation’. It is pertinent to mention here that Summer Vacations 2016 BZU were scheduled to begin from June 6.
It will be relevant to mention here that announcement of BZU getting close due to security threats came around week after Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) killed 8 al-Qadea terrorists in Multan. According to the sources, the terrorists killed were intending attack on BZU.
