KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) vice-president Sherry Rehman on Monday elected Senator on the seat vacated by Latif Ansari. No political party fielded a candidate against Sherry Rehman as a result she got elected unchallenged.
While speaking to media, Sherry Rehman said that she will raise voice for the people of Sindh in the Upper House.
Ms Rehman had served as Pakistan’s ambassador in the US and left the office on May 15,2013. Rule says, she was not eligible to become senator before of two years passed since she quit the office. According to news reports that was the reason she refrained the Senate elections held in March 2015.
