Polling on four vacant FATA seats today

ISLAMABAD: Polling for election of four members of the Senate from FATA will be held at the parliament house, Islamabad today from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Thirty six candidates are contesting against four vacant seats. Earlier at March 05, polling for the election of four Senators from FATA was stopped after protest from parliamentarians in protest from a Presidential Ordinance restricts the representatives from FATA to just one vote instead of four.

On March 13, the Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights quashed the Presidential Order promulgated hours before the March 05 Senate Elections.

Now the 11 FATA MNAs will be electing four senators, each having four votes according to old voting system.

At present, on 100 filled senators seats: Pakistan Peoples Party has 27 senators, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz has 26 senators, Awami National Party has 7, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has 6, and others have 38 in aggregate.

All terms and conditions that were applied on March 05, will remain applicable on today.
