Islamabad: On Saturday Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Qamar Zaman Chaudhry visited NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa bureau for its annual inspection purpose, he also inaugurated a tree plantation campaign in the premises of NAB KP along with the officials.
Chairman NAB said that corruption is one of the major factors that creates hurdles in the progress and prosperity of culture, he also termed corruption as a ‘cancer’, which is affecting the country as furiously as cancer does.
“Corruption creates injustice and poverty, depriving a deserving person of his/her right” he said. The chairman is determined to eradicate corruption from the country without any fear or favour, he also told that NAB believes in zero tolerance against corruption. He also advised all the rank officers to work more hard and vigorously to eradicate curb of corruption from our country.
Annual inspection of the NAB KP for the year 2014 was carried by NAB Chairman’s Inspection & Monitoring Team (CI&MT). The inspection of performance from 18 February, 2014 to 20 February, 2015 was carried to observe and evaluate on the basis of quantified grading system.
The bureau during 2014 recovered Rs159.512 million and arrested 116 accused persons. It has recovered Rs1,615.25 million since its inception, chairman also mentioned increase in number of complaints, which is good sign that people have trust in NAB.
Chairman was also informed that NAB KP bureau during 2014 filed 35 references. The bureau received 5,261 complaints and all were disposed of. The bureau authorised 360 complaints verifications in the duration and disposed 260 of them, carried 65 of the total 249 authorised inquires and completed 40 out of 54 authorised investigations.
