MQM carried on sit-ins over its workers’ detention


KARACHI: Muttahid Qoami Movement (MQM) has boycotted the Session of Sindh Assembly and started to protest in different parts of Karachi over last night’s arrest of its workers by rangers who conduct a raid at MQM office situated at 33 Abu al Hassan Isfahani road Karachi.


The MQM chief Altaf Hussain announced sit-ins after rangers’ act of arresting the party workers. It is reported that a number of people belonging to MQM have begun to gather from different areas of the city soon after the call for sit-ins.

The sit-ins places include in front of Chief Minister House, Teen Talwar, Numaish Chorangi, Gulshan Chorangi, Astar Gate and Landhi.


The MQM members of provincial assembly and members of Senate are also there in sit-ins along with a huge number of other supporters and party workers.

Boycotting the raid by rangers, mostly private educational institutes have been shut down in the city. Moreover, markets, business centers, bazaars and petrol pumps have also been closed due to this turmoil.

Moreover, traffic has also been extremely disturbed due to protesters gathering on the roads. Consequently, the city traffic police have directed the citizens to adopt alternative roads to reach their destinations.
