KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday announced cleanliness drive in Karachi.
MQM stalwart Farooq Satter while talking to media said that Party has decided to initiate ‘Karachi Safai Mohim’ ( Karachi cleanliness drive), one month long drive will start on 10, March.
During cleanliness drive, garbage will be disposed, man-holes of gutter will be fixed, pipeline will be cleaned and trees, plants will be grown.
MQM parliamentary leader, appealed to all political parties, students, youth, industrialists and businessmen to join cleanliness drive.
“The cleaning campaign can last for more then a month, and we do not want to limit it. We will continue this campaign till our mayor-designate Waseem Akhtar takes his oath and assumes his responsibilities,” Sattar added.
MQM is facing political pressure after former Karachi mayor Mustafa Kamal suddenly came to Pakistan and announced to form political party, yesterday MQM’s seating MPA Dr. Sagheer joined Kamal. According to analyst, in coming more party member can join former Mayor, the move made by MQM can provide chance to reach every pocket of Karachi and reinforce their political strength.
