UPPER-DIR: The elections were held in the constituency PK-93 Uper Dir-III, prior to the disqualification of MPA Behram Khan of Jamaat-e- Islami (JI). And according to the unofficial results PPP’s Sahibzada Sanaullah has won the election.
Subsequently, sources claim that polling contested on 120 polls and 90 out of them were declared most sensitive. PPP’s Sanullah winning the contest took 21850 votes and Jamaat e Islami contender coming on the second slot bagged 15009 votes.
Four candidates were in contest for the seat: Azam Khan of Jamaat-e-Islami, PPP’s Sahibzada Sanaullah, and two were the independent candidates; Jamshed Khan and Shah Faisal.
According to the locals, women also came out to use their voting power as this was something which happened for the first time in the area. And an overall 34% of turn out was recorded.
The polling began at 8 am was later interrupted due to the firing incident, although due time for polling was 5 am. As having 90 of the polling stations most sensitive and remaining 30 were notified as sensitive.
Around 7 thousand of the police officers and other security personnel were deployed to avoid any of the un-convenient incident.
