Pak-Afghan border: 20 militants killed in air strikes


NORTH WAZIRISTAN: In a short aerial strike carried out by security forces on Saturday, 20 suspected militants were killed in North Waziristan Agency alongside the Pak-Afghan border.


As security forces carried out strikes, 20 suspected militants were shot dead while a number of their hideouts were also annihilated.

The wild sort of areas near the border are a major route used for smuggling between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and are dotted with Taliban bases, utilized as launch pads to blow Pakistan armed forces.


Last month, air strikes left 15 suspected militants killed in Shawal Valley after security forces moved in on Taliban hideouts in the area.

Meanwhile, air strikes and search operations across the region have been ongoing in trying to do away with terrorism from the country. Armed forces have been busy in operations against the terrorists and malicious elements causing terror in the country for a long time. In this regard, a grand operation after the name of Zarb-e-Azb had been launched last year to wipe away the dwellings and hideouts of the militants from the surface of the land.

A great number of militants have been put to ground and number of their strongholds have been destroyed so far.
