WAZIRISTAN: In a battle between army and militants on Sunday night in North Waziristan, at least seven soldiers shot down alongside the Afghan border.
More than 19 militants, including five commanders were also killed during the combat with armed forces.
According to a statement by Inter Services Public Relations, 19 terrorists were killed, including 5 of their commanders, in an extreme exchange of fire with security forces the previous night in an un-cleared pocket along the North Waziristan-Afghan border.
The casualty of seven soldiers took place the moment they got chased and cordoned following a militant’s exploding himself.
North Waziristan has considerably been flushed out of terrorists, yet targeted air strikes and intermittent clashes persistent in the area which was once the stronghold of homegrown militants and their foreign supporters.
Meanwhile, North Waziristan has been come under the major intention for media across the country after a grand operation in the region, codenamed Zarb-e-Azb, launched last year against the militants. In the wake of this operation, thousands of inhabitants fled the area and took shelter in the tribal areas of Pakistan.
So far, a vast area has been wiped out from the existence of terrorists and a number of soldiers belonging to Pakistan Army have also got killed.
