PESHAWAR: A military helicopter crashed here on Thursday evening in Srikot area of Mansehra district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, leaving 12 people dead.
As per details, the helicopter was carrying medical supplies and had taken off from Chaklala, Rawalpindi Airbase and was on its way to Gilgit.
Mansehra District Police Officer, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman confirmed the incident. Saying that at least nine people had died that were on board. “Relief and rescue teams are on their way to the crash site”, he added.
A similar incident also happened today early afternoon when an Air Force helicopter, engaged in relief and rescue operations, crashed in the Khot area of upper Chitral, injuring seven people.
According to the sources, the helicopter was being used to conduct rescue and relief operations in the flood affected district of Chitral.
Today was an unfortunate day for the entire nation when two helicopters have crashed while providing relief goods to the flood affected areas.
