Microsoft to setup innovation centre in Peshawar


PESHAWAR: Microsoft is mulling over setting up its Innovation Centre if Provincial Capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in collaboration with Information Technology Department of the province.


A meeting between a Microsoft delegation and officials of the provincial IT board has revealed the development.

Secretary Science and Technology and Information Technology Syed Zafar Ali Shah presides the meeting and the Microsoft delegation was led by Microsoft Pakistan Country Manager Nadeem Ahmad Malik.

The opportunities, possibilities and venues of collaboration and association among the cooperation among the Provincial IT Department, Microsoft and KP IT Board for the promotion of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the province with special focus on e-governance were discussed in details during the meeting.


The meeting also talked about the issues concerning collaboration and support regarding intellectual property rights. It was decided in the meeting that a road map will be designed to extend in support the youth and private entrepreneurship of the province in the IT department.

Previously, two innovation centres have already established in Pakistan’s two metropolis – Karachi and Lahore.

Meanwhile, it is a step towards making the digitalized country having potential to go alongside the pace of the world that has gained much heights in technology especially in the field of IT.
