Grenade attack at Mansehra’s Hazara University, 10 students injured: Report


MANSEHRA: At least ten students including one female were injured during a clash between students and security guards at Hazara University’s main campus in Mansehra when an unidentified person used hand grenade.


According to eye witnesses, a group of student travelling in Suzuki van started fight with security guards when they were asked to be searched for security reasons at the main entrance. As per initial report, at least 10 students including one female and security guards have been injured. The injured have been shifted to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital. Four injured are in critical condition.


According to statement of local administration, security of the University was high after they received threats. The fight started when student in Suzuki van were asked for checking and instead of cooperating with security officials they started misbehaving. Situation become worst when other groups of students joined the fight that added fuel to fire. Both sides opened the fire and at the moment a hand grenade was used by a student that left eight people injured.

The university’s administration blamed the police that they had been informed about the conflict but only one dozen came to solve the matter that didn’t prove to be sufficient to control the situation.
