Kholi fan Umar Daraz bail denied by court, hoisted Indian flag


LAHORE: Fan of Indian star batsman Virat Kholi who was arrested over waving Indian flag on his house roof top, his bail was denied by court on Friday he may face imprisonment up to ten year.


“We are disappointed and will challenge the decision in the session’s court,” said Draz’s Lawyer Aamir Bhatti.

Umar Daraz, 22, trailor by profession was arrested on January 26 for waving Indian flag after Kholi made 90 runs against Australia which helped India to win T20 match in Adelaide. Police authorities called his act ‘against the ideology of Pakistan.


Official said the police have arrested Draz and registered a case under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO). He was presented in court the same day and was remanded into police custody. Draz turned out to be a big fan of India’s Test Cricket team captain Virat Kohli.


Ealier Umar Daraz spoke to media, said, “I am a big fan of Virat Kohli. I support the Indian team because of Kohli. Hoisting of Indian flag on the rooftop of house only shows my love for the Indian cricketer,”
