ISLAMABAD: Government has reduced the prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and petroleum products following the reduction of oil prices in the international market from September 1.
Government has slashed the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs. 3 per liter after which the new price of petrol fell down to Rs. 73.76/liter and that of hi-speed diesel to Rs. 82.04 per liter.
The new price of light diesel is Rs. 53.59/liter and that of hi-octane is Rs. 79.79/liter. The new price of kerosene oil is set at Rs. 57.11/liter.
New prices have become effective now from midnight of August 31 and September 1 but as soon the clock struck 12 the petrol pumps owners stopped the supply of petrol causing inconvenience to the consumers.
The situation further became grave when government imposed a tax of Rs.30,000 on every oil tanker which compelled the oil tankers owners to go on strike against the tax of the government.
Government has also reduced the price of CNG in both the regions of the country. In Region 1 comprising Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Potohar, CNG price has been cut down by Rs. 0.53 per kg after which the new price is set at Rs. 75.82 per kg.
In Region 2 comprising Punjab and Sindh, price of CNG has been reduced by Rs. 4 per kg after which the new price is set at Rs. 67.50/kg.
