Air Force helicopter engaged in relief activities crashed in Chitral


CHITRAL: A Pakistan Air Force helicopter, being used for relief and rescue activities, crashed in the Khot area of upper Chitral on Wednesday, leaving several injured.


Sources said that the helicopter was being utilized to carry out rescue and relief operations in the flood hit district of Chitral.

The eye witnesses say that as soon the helicopter took off, it collided with a tree at the height of 30 feet and suffered partial smash up.

The incident have been confirmed by security forces.


Meanwhile, this is the second helicopter crash of the current year as earlier this year, couple of dignities were killed when a Pakistan Army helicopter crash-landed on a school in Nalter Valley.

In that incident, the Ambassador of Philippines Domingo D Lucenario Jr, Ambassador of Norway Leif Larsen and the wives of the Malaysian and Indonesian ambassadors were among seven people killed in the helicopter crash in Naltar Valley located in the Gilgit Baltistan region on May 8, 2015.

This helicopter was loaded with a delegation of ambassadors to look into the projects on a three-day trip to Gilgit Baltistan, where the foreign envoys were scheduled to have a meeting with prime minister as well.
