A high peak of flood in Chenab River is passing through Multan and Muzaffargarh areas and heading towards Punj Nad head works.
The areas of Kabir Wala, Multan Sadar, Tehseel Muzaffargarh, Shuja Abad, Ali Pur, Jalal Pur Pir Wala will remain under huge pressure of water today.
According to flood forecasting center in Lahore, flood peak of 600,000 to 700,000 cusecs will pass through Pun Nad within 24 to 48 hours.
The cuts made at Muhammad Wala and Sher Shah Dikes are expected to reduce pressure at Head Punj Nad.
Road and railway links between Multan and Muzaffargarh, Lya, DG Khan, Rajan Pur and surrounded areas remained disconnected since last night due to the breach at Sher Shah Bund.
Rescue activities continue at the affected areas where volunteers of army and civil administration are working to protect the safety Bunds to avoid loses.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the government will compensate flood affected people whose houses, cattle and crops were destroyed.
Addressing flood hit people in Muzaffargarh; he said every possible step would be taken for the rehabilitation of the flood affected people.
Shahbaz Sharif criticized PTI chief Imran Khan for continuing protest at this critical time. The chief also visited Multan and enquired about the difficulties of flood victims.
