Sehwan: Death toll increases to 53


Dadu: The extremely hot conditions in the surrounding area of Sehwan Sharif resulted the death of 53devotees according to news report.


It is reported that due to the mercury rose to 50 degree Celsius in Sehwan Town, 16 people, who had come to participating the 762nd annual Urs of Sufi Saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, died on Wednesday. Apart from these people who died of sunstroke, aged between 30 to 65, two pilgrims drowned at Sapna lake. The extreme weather took the lives of 9 people on the first day of Urs, besides two drowned in the Indus River on the same day. Moreover, five devotees had died on the eve of the Urs. Three dead bodies are still unidentified and all of them have been taken to the Taluka Hospital Sehwan with the help of Edhi volunteers.


The Chairman of the festival committee, DC of Dadu, Sohail Adeeb Bachani, said that the arrangements for the burial of the dead have been undergoing with the cooperation of Edhi volunteers.
