Court orders to discharge the case against arrested in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: High Court has ordered to discharge case against those Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers who had been detained under Section 144.

Justice Anwar Khan Kasi reviewed the petition concerning the arrested PTI and PAT workers.

Pursuing the case, the PTI solicitor Niaz Ullah Niazi argued that police arrested the people illegally using the authorities of that of Magistrate.

After hearing the arguments of both sides, the High Court has ordered to discharge all cases registered under Section 144. The court said that the verdict regarding such sort of issues has already by given in the Lal Masjid case.

The court has declared that permission can’t be given for anything beyond the law. It said that it is to be investigated whether police have had the authority to arrest or not.

Meanwhile, cases under Section 144 were registered against nearly 650 people; however, the court had ordered to release all of them on 13th of this month.
