13 passengers are reportedly blown off while more than 100 sustained injuries as a result of Jaffar Express’s derailing in Ab-e-Gum are of the Bolan district on early Tuesday.
Driver of the train and his assistant were also among the dead ones.
Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique has confirmed the death of a dozen people in the accident.
“Four carriages of a Rawalpindi-bound train which left Quetta Railway station were derailed near Ab-i-Gum are of Bolan district, nearly 75 kms from Quetta city,” Home Secretary of Baluchistan Akbar Hussain Durrani told AFP, adding that malfunctioning of train’s brakes caused the accident.
The wounded persons were rushed to hospitals in the provincial capital where an emergency has been implemented in all hospitals.
In a quick response, FC Baluchistan personnel accompanying ambulances reached the spot of the accident for carrying our rescue operation, as stated by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
