Army Chief briefed on Balochistan stability and development situation


QUETTA: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif visited Headquarters Southern Command Quetta and was briefed by the Commander South­ern Com­mand Lt Gen Muhammad Naseer Khan Janjua on the overall security and development situation of the province.


In a recent press release, the ISPR stated, General Sharif was given a detailed briefing on the general security and law and order situation of Balochistan. Civil and military both officials including Chief Secretary, IGFC Balochistan and DG ISI were also present for the briefing.

The forum was informed that law and order situation in Balochistan has improved and crime rate declined notably due to successful targeted FC and police operations against terrorists, criminals and those involved in sectarian violence.

General Raheel highly praised FC and other law enforcement agencies for bringing clear improvement in law and order situation of the province. He also guaranteed all support to the provincial government and people of Balochistan in their search for long-lasting peace, development and prosperity.


COAS has said that potential of Balochistan as a regional hub for energy and trade will only be realised with a collective civil and military approach for its security and development.

He also welcomed those who have decided to give up violence and are laying down their arms and said it is very encouraging that rebels were gradually coming back into national mainstream. All support will be provided to re-establish them so that they could lead a peaceful and fruitful life.

COAS has particularly appreciated FWO for their constant efforts in construction of roads network across the length and breadth of Balochistan against all odds and directed them to guarantee quality of construction and timely completion of these development projects.
