4000 parents refuses polio vaccine to their kids in Balochistan


QUETTA: More than 4000 parents have refused to get their kids polio drops in the southern areas of Balochistan including Quetta, Pishin and Qilla Abdullah.


Coordinator, Balochistan Emergency Cell, Dr. Saif-ur-Rehman told that four cases of polio have been recorded this year out of which three were recorded in the same affected areas.

The concerned authorities held the parents responsible for these four polio cases registered so far.


Polio teams are facing problems in these areas to give polio drops to children due to refusal of children.

Dr Rehman told that they have identified the parents who refused polio drops and now they are trying to convince those parents. Balochistan government has formed different committees consist of religious scholars under the supervision of deputy commissioners to convince such parents.

It is to be remembered here that UNICEF, WHO, federal government and other related departments have shown their concerns over the refusal of parents to vaccinate their children.
