ISLAMABAD: As the inquiry regarding the corruption in metro bus project is going on, another scandal has surfaced up about the horticulture work along with the route of metro bus project. And this Federal Minister for Planning, Ahsan Iqbal’s brother is involved in it, daily English reported.
Technically it is the job of construction company to administer horticulture work but this time the contract is given to Horti Group, a group owned by Mustafa Kamal who is the real brother of Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal. Mustafa Iqbal is actually a horticulture consultant in Nespak, which is the design consultant for the metro bus project.
Previously, Kamal was the chairman in Punjab Chief Minister’s task force on parks and horticulture from September 2008 to June 2009. He left that seat after an inquiry was hold against him in January 2009 for allegedly using the office for personal business benefits.
Nespak Highways Division Vice President, Qazi Iftikhar Ahmad told about Mustafa Kamal that he was hired as a consultant because he is a landscape architect. Talking about the contract awarded to Kamal, he said that basically it should be the responsibility of Rawalpindi Development Authority which is executing the project.
