ECP revised schedule for Senate elections


ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced on Thursday (today) the new date of Senate elections 2015 that will be held on March 05, 2015 instead of March 03, 2015.


The dates for filling of nomination papers and places of taking the poll will be the same as were notified earlier.

Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted from Feb 19 to Feb 20 and filing of appeals against rejection of nominations with the Secretary, ECP or with the Provincial ECP concerned up to Feb 23 and Feb 24.

Disposal of appeals by the ECP will be made on Feb 26 and Feb 27. The parties who want to withdraw their candidates from election can do on or before Feb 28.


Senate elections are going to be held on the 52 seats of the retiring Senators who will retire on March 11 including 21 of Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian (PPP-P), 6 of Awami National Party (ANP), 1 of Pakhtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP), 3 of Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM), 3 of Jamiatul-Ulema-e-Islam (F) (JUI-F), 2 of Balochistan National Party Awami (BNP-A), 1 of National Party (NP), 8 of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), 1 of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q), and 6 Independent (IND).
