23rd March: Phone services to remain suspended in twin cities


ISLAMABAD: According to official statement of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, all kind of phone services will remain suspended today (Monday) in Islamabad and Rawalpindi from 6am to 2pm due to 23rd March Pakistan Day Parade.


According to statement, the phone services are being suspended because of security reasons. Services are likely to be resumed after completion of event at 2 pm. Wireless internet service would also remain suspended till the event besides suspension of mobile service.

It is not the first time that mobile service is being suspended due to security reason. For past many years, especially after the commencement of operation Khayber-I and Zarb-e-Azb, on every special event government and defense institutes tries their best to make the security foolproof to avoid any kind of mishaps.


Meanwhile, the parade avenue is already under the control of Pak Army. Pak Army have taken charge of the area and covered the area with barbed wires to make the security foolproof.

Joint military parade of the Pakistan’s Three Armed Forces is on the way in Islamabad. The decision to resume the military parade after seven years is to show the military power and strength in the wake of the shocking terror attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar in last year December 2014, which resulted in the death of 150, including 132 schoolchildren.

The last military parade had taken place on March 23, 2008 during the regime of General (R) Pervez Musharraf as a president.
