FA Cup 2022 Final Preview

The FA Cup is the only trophy still pending for manager Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. This is the only trophy the Reds have not won since the German coach took charge.

What is even more shocking is that Liverpool have not won this competition since 2006 when they defeated West Ham. Most importantly, there is a chance of winning the National Cup double for the first time since 2000-2001.

Sadly, Klopp will miss a midfield hinge after Fabinho sustained a hamstring injury and will miss the rest of the season, including the Champions League final against Real Madrid later this year.

Klopp knows his team is fighting on three fronts and he knows that this team is in a position to win four titles in one season and maybe even six in 2022. The only competition where things are beyond their control is the Premier League. League, where they are three points behind Manchester City with two games remaining.

One of their last appearances was 10 years ago when they lost 2-1 to Chelsea.

Meanwhile, the Blues are one of the most successful teams in this competition for the past 16 years. Chelsea are among the most successful teams to have won the FA Cup on five occasions during that period.

For Thomas Tuchel, this will be his fourth national final since his appointment as coach. With this statistic, Tuchel would equal Jose Mourinho’s record in this division, but keep in mind that the team have only had two wins in their last six games before Saturday’s game.

Chelsea have struggled in recent weeks as they marked the end of their Champions League reign and also saw an early exit from the title race. Also missing are Ben Chilwell (knee) and Callum Hudson-Odoi (Achilles). These two players will remain out of the game until the end of the season. In Chilwell’s case, there is a possibility that he will return to the team in late July or early August.

Chelsea XI potential: Edward Mendy, Reece James, Trevor Chaluba, Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger, Marcos Alonso. N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount, Timo Werner, Romelu Lukaku

Probability XI for Liverpool: Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson; Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, Keita; Luis Diaz, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah
