A person who looked like he had come to pray at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Park Slope as an alternative walked off with the contents of the collection box, the church and law enforcement explained Saturday.
The “prayerful” suspect waited until the church was vacant to make his transfer, the Diocese of Brooklyn explained.
Surveillance online video shows the alleged sinner carrying a wooden selection box off to the side of the church, kneeling to reduce it open up and then stuffing the money into his trousers pocket before casually heading out onto 9th street.
The theft was found out about 4 p.m. Friday by a Franciscan nun who was sanitizing the pews, the Diocese mentioned. She did not know how a great deal cash was stolen.
