(ANSA) – London, April 29 – A call to the European Union to announce its readiness to reopen the gates of Scotland, and to recognize its secession from London, in the event that the Scots support this option as a response to Britain’s exit from the European Union. It is the initiative launched by 170 European thinkers, including the Italian writer hiding behind the pseudonym Elena Ferrante, from the columns of the progressive British Guardian newspaper a few days after a sensitive round of UK administrative elections that will also concern the north, with the renewal of the local assembly in Edinburgh.
Among the signatories, several English personalities stand out, such as composers Ian McEwan and Jonathan Koo or the musician Brian Eno, but they are mostly personalities from the various Scottish or Irish or European Union countries on the continent: from the Slovenian philosopher Slavoy Zicek to the Greek political scientist Calypso Nikolaides So is Ferrante.
