Covid, cases are increasing in the UK, Germany and the USA – Physics & Maths
Cases of covid are increasing in the United Kingdom and the United States, while in Italy and neighboring countries there is a phase of decline or stagnation: it is a situation that calls for wisdom and poetic controls, starting with the sequencing activity. This is indicated by the analysis of mathematician Giovanni Sebastiani, of the Institute for Applications of Calculus M.Picone, of the National Research Council (Cnr).
“Analysis of data on the incidence of positive tests for SarsCoV2 in European countries indicates that the United Kingdom and Germany have been in a growth phase in the past 4-5 weeks, while Italy and neighboring countries, such as Spain, France, Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia, are in a phase of decline or stagnation. The infection rate – the expert continues – is also increasing for 9 weeks in the United States as well”.
In light of this situation, Sebastiani points out, “the importance of capillary examinations, not of an optional type, perhaps on the basis of a sample, is emphasized for people entering Italy from foreign countries, and not focusing only on those coming directly or indirectly from China. It is good that we adopt a wise strategy – he adds – and not repeat the same mistake that was made in the first phase of the epidemic. He continues: “The examinations must concern both test positivity and massive sequencing, in order to detect the presence of new variants that could prove to be vaccine-resistant. To this end it should be noted that, unfortunately, sequencing in our country has so far very little been carried out compared to other European countries, such as the United Kingdom.
