ISLAMABAD: Managing Director of Utility Store Corporation (USC), Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed said that USC is providing subsidy on almost 400 commodities of daily use to ease general public.
Talking to the media, Dr. Mukhtar said that the subsidy is being given on essential basic items that includes cooking oil, ghee, sugar, red chilies, rice, flour, pulses, spices, soaps and other daily use products.
He further said that USC has sufficient stock of various commodities that is available on 63 warehouses and 5,939 outlets across the country.
USC was formed in July 1971 with the object of providing basic goods to consumer, especially common man, at lower prices at one place. In past, USC has helped on many food crisis. With the help of USC, government is trying to break the monopolistic market. Every year, Ramzan Package is managed by the USC at the order of government.
