SBP plans to enhance security features of currency notes


LAHORE: The central bank of Pakistan, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced to enhance security features of currency notes by introducing new security features in currency notes that will enable the state to cope with fake currency in the country that is undermining the national economy.



Acting Governor of SBP Saeed Ahmad said at a conference on “Currency management: strategies for the future” conduct by SBP that central bank is conscious about national economy of the country that is affecting by the fake money and also seeks the contribution of media to create awareness via documentary films and advertisements.

He also said to the journalist that with the increase in users of smartphone, an application for fake currency detection is under process. SBP is planning to introduce a hologram in both the 5,000 and 1,000 rupee note and after successful achievement it will be examined for lower denominations.
