Lahore: A presentations of the budget for the fiscal year 2014-2015 was held in the Punjab Assembly on Friday in which a total volume of the provincial budget is estimated to be at Rs 1.034 trillion.
The speaker Punjab assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal chaired the session while the proposal was presented by the Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman. 10 percent increase in the salaries of government employees as suggested whereas the allocation for police is increased by 16 percent.
Rs 137.53bn have been allocated for communications and works, Rs20.72bn for production, Rs48.01bn for special programs, and Rs55bn for special development programs and Rs122bn for health projects. A sum of Rs6.816bn has been allocated for industries in the budget. Rs2.759bn will be spent on salaries of the employees whereas the remaining amount of Rs4.056bn is reserved for other expenditures. Rs273 has been allocated for education, Rs60bn for building new schools in the province and Rs5bn for maintenance of law and order.
A meeting to analyze the budget proposal has been held this morning chaired by the CM Shahbaz Shareef who approved the proposal. Several other ministers, advisors, chief secretary Punjab, Inspector General Punjab and other key officials had also attended the session. While presiding the session, CM expressed that the proposed budget will proved to be useful for the masses and more developmental projects would be carried out by the provincial government.
