Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) claimed to have discovered country’s biggest resource from any well during the past 10 years.
As claimed the state-owned company, it has found gas sources in Matiari, Sindh that would provide at least 56 million cubic feet per day. The volume has its significance as many petroleum exploration companies have been striving to find alternative for the depleting gas fields with new discoveries.
According to company officials, further digging is likely to add the gas output to 80 mmcfd.
“We will drill the appraisal well in the next three months. We won’t be announcing that because it won’t be a discovery. But this is major find,” said the official.
The Hatim X-1 well was spud in the Gambat South Block in October 8 and was dug to the deepness of at least 3800 metres on November 26 and the examinations were carried out to sort out the potential of discovered resource.
With the possession of this newly discovered volume, the need of Engro’s new fertilizer plant, which has continuously faced shutdowns owing to gas shortages.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first discovery of such type as number of great pile of sources have been discovered during the last two years. Although any single of such discoveries could be enough to meet the need of Pakistan’s energy requirements, the country is still struggling to get rid of the prolonged energy shortage.
