Pak-Uzbek bilateral trade could jump to $300 million, says PM Nawaz


SAMARKAND: The bilateral trade between Pakistan and Uzbekistan could jump to $300 million if both countries join hand to work together said by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on his last day of the visit to Uzbekistan.


PM Nawaz urged the need for joint collaboration in order to increase the bilateral trade between two countries that could reach to $300 million. He expressed his view during a visit of heavy Machinery Exhibition in Samarqand. He was briefed there about the domestically manufactured machinery. Replying to the suggestion of PM Nawaz, Uzbek Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev has said that Germany, Holland and Japan are already cooperating with the domestic manufacturers for manufacturing of heavy machinery.

PM Nawaz also visited the Azadi Square in Tashkent where he was welcomed by the ruler of Tashkent City Roshan Usmanov. The President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and PM Nawaz had a friendly, substantive and constructive exchange of view and reached the common understanding on a wide range of issues to further deepen Pak-Uzbek relations in various fields and on international regional issues of mutual interest.


The officials of both countries reaffirmed their interest in expanding and further strengthening long-term, mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation through sustained dialogue and engagement at all levels in areas such as trade & development, education, science & technology and cultural relations.
