ISLAMABAD: The Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has kicked-off the investor education web portal -‘Jama Punji’- of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan. The web portal has been developed to educate the investors, reported by Media and Corporate Communication Department of SECP.
Finance Minster lauded at the step taken by SECP and is optimised that this education web portal would insert a positive impact on investment trends of the people. By this portal, SECP is aiming to educate and train the common people on how to choose the right investment option.
The Minister said, “The portal launched by SECP was user friendly. The SECP web portal act as a single point learning resource for the existing and potential users of financial products offered in the capital market i.e. mutual funds, pension fund and insurance and company registration.”
Chairman SECP Mr. Zafar ul Haq Hijazi on the event commented that in accordance with its mandate, the SECP under its Investor Education Program was educating via digital means including: web portal; SMS, social media and physical interaction via seminars and workshops. The SECP’s web portal is integrated with lot of features such as: scam meter, investment check lists, risk profiler, quizzes, games, calculator, stock trading simulator and information about multiple financial products. It also enables the users to verify a company registration, dispute resolution mechanism and links to company registration.
Web portal named ‘Jama Punji’ is linked with social media channels and SMS service. By this linking, the SECP will remain in touch with registered users for investor alerts, awareness message relevant to financial marketing, rights and obligations of the investors; guiding them to investor education web portal; investor profiling etc.
In addition to web portal, SECP is also planning to boost the physical interaction as well. For this purpose, SECP will collaborate with universities and schools to hold regular awareness sessions on the campus. For this, Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with leading universities and schools across the country would be executed to organise seminars for students and train the ‘Trainers Program’. On same line, arrangements are being made with professional bodies through MoUs.
