Alto to replace Mehran in Pakistan by 2018, announces Pak Suzuki


Pak Suzuki has announced it plans for paying bid adieu to iconic 800cc Mehran. The local production of Suzuki Alto 660cc will be replacing by 2018.


Pak Suzuki shared the information with the Senate Standing Committee on Industries and Production upon their visit to the production area of Pak Suzuki on Thursday.

The Senate delegation led by Senator Hidayatullah and included Khalida Parveen, Kalsoom Perveen and Chaudhry Tanvir Khan. Additional Secretary, Ministry of Industries and Production, Sher Ayub Khan and Engineering Development Board CEO, Tariq Ejaz Chaudhry asked the auto assembler to introduce global standard safety features in its new model.


The replacement of Mehran will be of nothing shocking for Pakistanis as rumors in the air were suggesting about such move from around several months. The rumors up suggested that Mehran would be replaced by Suzuki Alto 658cc th or 8th generation. Though, now the official announcement tells that locally produced Alto will be replacing Mehran.
