BILD, Another Whale Massacre in the Faroe Islands – Last Hour

(ANSA) – ROME, Sept 23 – Just ten days after the brutal massacre of 1,428 dolphins, a new massacre occurred in the Faroe Islands, killing 52 pilot whales, reports from Germany’s Bild newspaper.

The so-called “Grindadrap”, the bloody fishing of cetaceans on the beach, is a centuries-old tradition in the Danish archipelago with a wide range located in the Atlantic Ocean between Iceland, Scotland and Norway. It dates back to at least the 16th century, and is associated with nutritional needs but also with ancient rituals in which children usually participate.

Environmental associations have been calling for their suppression for years. “We are calling on the European Union, Denmark and the UK to take urgent action to prevent the European Faroe Islands from destroying protected populations of dolphins and small whales. This horrific brutality and unsustainable slaughter must end now,” says John Hurston of the Blue Planet Society. in Bild. (Dealing).
