Australia won the 2022 Billie Jean King Cup semi-finals. After the victory over Slovakia, the Australians repeated their victory over Belgium, where they were defeated 3-0. Australia now awaits the Group C winner, with the Spain-Great Britain match currently taking place to determine the top spot.

The first singles saw Storm Sanders’ surprise and obvious victory over Alison van Uytvanck. No. 223 dominated the world rankings, winning a 6-2 double in an hour and fifteen minutes of play. But in the second singles, Agla Tomljanovic benefited from the retirement of Elise Mertens in the third set. The Belgian won the first set 6-4 and advanced to the score 4-1 in the second set, before being subjected to a return from Tomljanovic. The Australian finished the second break 6-4, while in the third there was Mertens’ withdrawal 3-0 to the opponent.

Australia’s third point came thanks to the double. Samantha Stosur stepped onto the field, celebrating the success paired with Storm Sanders. The Australians defeated Bonaventure/Flekens in two sets, 6-4, 6-3.
