Australia is looking forward to US helicopters
The Australian Ministry of Defense is ready to modernize the fleet of military helicopters used by the armed forces. To do this, look at American-made means: the Boeing AH-64E Apache attack aircraft will replace the Airbus Helicopters Tiger, which entered service in 2004, while the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk will replace the NH Industries NH-90 Taipan, in service since 2007.
The AH-64E Apache helicopter was selected in 2021 under the “Land 4503” program. The Department of Defense is acquiring 29 samples that will replace the current 22 Tiger ARH (Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter). The value of the contract is $5 billion. The aircraft will be provided to the Army at Darwin Military Base. Delivery is expected in 2025.
For the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk, in September 2022, the American Lockheed Martin Group was awarded a contract worth $ 1.95 billion as part of the “4057 Land” project: the supply concerns a maximum of 40 combat helicopters that will replace the MRH-90 Taipan MRH (Multiple Helicopter roles), bringing the naval fleet to 36 total units. Delivery in this case is also expected from 2025.
