Ambassador Gloria Isabel Ramirez Rios: “Italy is Colombia’s main trading partner, above Spain and the United Kingdom”

“Today we celebrated Colombia’s Independence Day, July 20, and were awarded by Michel Chrysostomo, President of the Enel Group, the lead investor in Colombia. Today we can say that Italy is the main trading partner of Colombia, above Spain and the United Kingdom. A goal achieved thanks to the investment of many Italians who believed in our country and its government. Today we also talked about the music, culture and fun that Colombia brings to Italy.

Since arriving in Italy, I have promised myself to change the export numbers: export more and encourage investments in Colombia. This feat has been achieved: we have doubled exports and tripled the investments of Italians. Enel is one of the main investors, but in addition to renewable energy, we have dealt with other investments, such as palm oil, coffee and much more.

Last year we opened the Gabriel García Márquez Street that Rome gave us. Bilateral relations with the Government of Italy are wonderful.

Since arriving in Italy, I immediately feel at home, the people are welcoming, happy and real: our two countries have many things in common.”
