The Alfa Romeo F1 ORLEN Team scored four important points in the Australian Grand Prix, with Valtteri Bottas finishing eighth at the end of an exciting race. His teammate Zhou Guanyu came close to the points with an impressive comeback in P11, just two seconds short of the top ten.
As a result, the points tally is 13, and the team is currently sixth in the constructors’ championship, but we must realize that the return of Mercedes and the sudden rise of McLaren has put Alfa Romeo in a difficult confrontation so far in terms of performance. Capable of fighting for a place behind Red Paul and Mercedes.
Frederic Vasseur, Team Manager: “Getting four points with another getting into the top ten is really good, especially to fight back after the defeat in Jeddah. The team did a good job in tough conditions today: the moment the first safety car got in wasn’t perfect and cost us our position on the right track, especially with Zhou; We were also stuck on two DRS trains which made progressing difficult so we had to earn our seat the hard way. And we did, and we’re close to having two cars on the points again, that’s proof that we’re headed in the right direction. The whole team did really well today, and now we can focus on the Imola race to continue our fight for a good place in the constructors’ championship.“.

“I really enjoyed today’s race, it was a good performance with close fighting and fights from start to finish. Of course, the most important thing is that we got some points, and that’s because of the good work done by everyone on the team: I’m happy with the calls that were made and how we ran – and of course, the winger who slept yesterday proved to be the right choice and helped us make progress. I had a great day although I had to work hard, push throughout the race: hopefully now we’ll be able to continue to be strong and improve. We have updates coming in the upcoming rounds so we can keep fighting for points in every race“.

“I’m proud of my race, but obviously a little angry that I missed points by a small margin. Our pace was good, but we lost some positions with the safety car and that made life more difficult for us. I did my best and pushed really hard in the end, but I ran out of tires when I had to fight Alex and couldn’t stay ahead. However, we solved the problem at the beginning and the race was good: I remember my first three Formula 1 races and my worst result was 11, so I can build on that positive start, aiming for points in every race“.
