Alex Trebek praises Jeopardy with nostalgia for its latest show

Jeopardy honored former host Alex Trebek and his impressive legacy on the popular game show with a touching tribute video that aired at the end of Friday’s episode. Trebeek passed away in November 2020 From pancreatic cancer at the age of 80.

Trebek has hosted the long-running Jeopardy series since 1984, and his contract was to run until 2023. New Trebek’s hosted Jeopardy episodes continued to air through early 2021.

The new video shows Trebeek over the course of 36 years on the show talking to the contestants and acting in his usual friendly capacity as Peter Allen / Dean Pitchford plays “Once Before I Go.” The video ends with the message, “Dedicated to Alex Trebek: Forever in Our Heart / Always Our Inspiration”.
