Alert in Canada for Fiona half a million homes without electricity – the world

About 500,000 homes were left without power as Hurricane Fiona passed through eastern Canada. The local power company, Nova Scotia Power, according to a report by CBC, in Nova Scotia alone, there were 414,000 homes without electricity. After it devastated Puerto Rico, Fiona was downgraded from a hurricane to post-tropical storm, but she still carries strong winds of 137 kilometers per hour. Hurricane or tropical storm warnings have been activated for much of eastern Canada and southern Quebec. Cape Breton Regional Municipality has declared a local emergency and asked residents to stay at home. The Canadian Red Cross has opened a reception center in Sydney, New Scotia.
